—About this treatment
Fotona 4D is the dual-wavelength Nd:YAG + Er:YAG laser facelift at our Sunnyvale clinic that lifts, tightens, and resurfaces in a single non-surgical session — Bay Area patients love it as a no-downtime alternative to a surgical lift, with the added benefit of treating the inside of the mouth (intraoral SmoothLiftin) for true bidirectional volumization of the lower face.
IndicationsWho it's for
- Non-surgical laser facelift, no downtime
- Lifts nasolabial folds, jowls, and jawline
- Intraoral SmoothLiftin tightens from the inside out
- Improves skin tone, texture, and pore size
- Safe for most Asian skin types and Fitzpatrick III–V
- Cumulative collagen results over 3 months
Procedure
After cleansing, your physician begins with the intraoral SmoothLiftin mode using a protected mouth applicator to warm the inner cheek and lip area. The handpiece then moves to the outer face for FRAC3 fractional rejuvenation, PIANO bulk heating across the lower face and jawline, and finally a gentle SupErficial peel pass for skin polishing. No anesthesia is required for most patients. A series of 3–4 sessions delivers cumulative lifting; results continue to build for 3 months post-treatment as new collagen forms.
Aftercare
A full Fotona 4D session takes about 60 minutes and works through four sequential modes: SmoothLiftin (intraoral, warming the dermis from the inside of the cheeks and lips), FRAC3 (fractional Nd:YAG targeting deeper imperfections), PIANO (long-pulse bulk dermal heating for lifting), and SupErficial (light Er:YAG peel for glow). You'll feel comfortable warmth and gentle snaps. Mild pinkness fades within hours; most patients return to work the same day. Visible lifting and brightening typically appear after 2–4 sessions spaced 3 weeks apart.
FAQ
- How does it work?
- Fotona 4D uniquely combines two laser wavelengths in one platform: Nd:YAG (1064nm, deep-penetrating) drives controlled bulk heating into the dermis and subcutis to contract collagen fibers and trigger neocollagenesis at the SMAS-adjacent layer, while Er:YAG (2940nm) gently ablates the superficial epidermis for tone and texture refinement. Treating intraorally first delivers thermal energy to the dermis from the inside-out, dramatically enhancing the volumizing effect on the nasolabial folds, marionette lines, and jowls — something no other laser system can do.
