Gel Polish Change
A gel polish change is the short version of a gel manicure: the old gel is removed, the nail surface is prepped and a new colour is applied and cured. There is no extension work, no rebuilding and usually only light shaping, so it is the quickest way to refresh a set of natural nails that are already in good shape.

Overview
Most salons price a colour change below a full manicure because the cuticle work and hand care are trimmed back or skipped. Expect roughly thirty to forty-five minutes in the chair. It is the standard booking when your nails were done two or three weeks ago, the length still suits you, and you simply want the colour renewed before an event, a trip or a new season.
How it works
The technician files off the top coat so acetone can reach the colour, wraps or soaks the nails for about ten to fifteen minutes, then eases the softened gel away and lightly buffs any residue. After dehydrating the surface, base coat, colour and top coat go on in thin layers with a cure between each. If lifting, cracks or a broken free edge turn up during removal, the appointment may need to become a full manicure or a repair, which is worth asking about when you book.
