A keratin lash lift is a lash lift with a conditioning step built in: after the shaping lotions have done their work, a keratin-based product is applied to coat the lashes. The curl comes from the lift itself; the keratin is there to leave the lashes feeling smoother and looking glossier afterwards. Overview
The visible outcome is the same as a standard lift — lashes curved upward from the base, an eye that looks more open, no extensions and no daily upkeep. What the keratin step changes is how the lashes feel and catch light: many clients describe them as softer and less dry than after a plain lift, which is the main reason the version exists.
Results typically last around six to eight weeks and fade as new lashes come through. Formulations differ a great deal between brands, so the amount of conditioning you notice varies by salon and product line. It is worth asking what the salon actually uses rather than assuming every keratin lift is the same; the name describes an ingredient, not a standardised protocol.
How it works
The first part of the appointment is an ordinary lift: shield in place, lashes combed onto a silicone rod, a softening lotion followed by a setting lotion, each timed to your lash thickness. The keratin product is then applied over the shaped lashes and left for a few minutes before everything is removed and cleaned. Total time is roughly an hour. The keratin sits on the lash surface as a cosmetic coating — it is a finishing step, not something that changes how the lift holds.
