Overview
Keratin is a protein already present in hair and lashes, and cosmetic keratin products work by coating the lash surface rather than altering it internally. The visible result is subtle: lashes that look neater and catch light better, and that feel softer when brushed. Anyone expecting a dramatic before-and-after should choose a lift or extensions instead.
Sessions are short — commonly twenty to thirty minutes — and there is no aftercare routine to keep up. Salons often suggest a short course of appointments spaced a few weeks apart rather than a single visit, and the noticeable effect fades gradually as the product washes away. How much difference you perceive varies by salon and product line, and by how your lashes felt to begin with.
How it works
The technician shields the lower lashes and cleanses the upper ones so no makeup residue or oil blocks the product. The keratin formula is combed through the lashes and left for several minutes, sometimes with gentle warmth to help it settle, then removed and the lashes are dried and brushed into place. Because there is no processing lotion involved, the appointment is comfortable and there is nothing to set, hold or grow out — the coating simply wears off with normal washing.
