How it works
Warmth and an oil-soluble cosmetic exfoliant such as salicylic acid, or an enzyme product, loosen the plug of oil and dead cells sitting in the opening. The therapist then lifts what releases with a sterile loop or tissue-wrapped fingers, working in short stretches rather than pressing repeatedly at anything stubborn. A clay or niacinamide-style mask afterwards helps the skin look calmer and less shiny for the rest of the day.
